Can you learn to have a green thumb?

This past week my mother came and gave a gardening lesson to the children.  I tend NOT to have a green thumb and happen to kill the greenery that surrounds our home :)

Our yard is in bloom with irises, honeysuckle, azaleas and many more beautiful treasures from God yet I had no idea what to do with them to keep them from "getting sick" as my mother calls it.  We walked around our property and learned the names of the different plants and how to care for them.

The kids got to see where pieces of a tree fell on the ground and another tree began to sprout, we spotted poison ivy growing up (and taking over) another tree that needs DADDY'S attention :)

This was a wonderful lesson for my children and for myself!  I am actually looking forward to getting my hands in the dirt and getting dirty!  Can you learn to have a green thumb?

  1. You have a wonderful yard to grow gorgeous plants! I too somehow manage to kill all plants that aren't VERY self reliant. I have found that Mock Orange's and Forsythia tend to do really well with no help whatsover.

  2. I, too, haven't a green thumb. In fact, the boys are out in the garden with their grandmother right now!

  3. Ummm....I kill everything. The plants know I don't like them. Your yard is lovely, though- happy gardening:)
